a kuripot foodie's guide to eating out...

My boyfriend Empoy and I are both foodies. 'Yun nga lang since limited ang aming budget we tend to look for places where the food is great and inexpensive.

Here's a list of some of the places where we used to pig-out:

Haf Chang Tea House (76 West Avenue corner Examiner Street) - for P300 you can order Yang Chow fried rice and steamed fish in garlic sauce. Yummy! Masarap din ang kanilang noodles and the hakaw.

Bacolod Chicken Inasal - what can i say? their chicken inasal is soooo good.

Brothers Burger - thank you Roy Choco for introducing me to Brothers Burger. Super sarap but the service sucks at the Morato branch. Medyo mabigat nga lang sa bulsa ang presyo ng isang burger. One should also have patience when placing an order. Nag-panic si Chriselle sa sobrang daming tanong kasi ang daming options! (e.g. size of burger, choice of side dishes, choice of sauces/condiments etc).

Gloria Maris - their Pata Tim is to die for (and to die from)!

North Park Noodle House - try the fried noodles. yummy!

Pancake House - burger steak and corn pancakes ang standard order ko since high school - no kidding.

Grill Queen - the food's great and cheap. try the grilled boneless bangus, pork barbeque, and squid.

JBJ's - burger joint along Morato - a great alternative to Brothers Burger

Yellow Cab Pizza - would you believe Emps and I can finish a 14' pizza na kaming dalawa lang? better get the "Four Seasons" para hindi kayo maumay. best pizza place for me.

Tropical Hut Hamburger- cheap and yummy

Wok Inn - try the fried squid, it's my all-time favorite.

Trellis - siyempre kasama sa list. their sisig is simply the best.

Tsim Tsa Tsui - another great chinese restaurant. too bad closed na ang kanilang morato branch. try the noodles and dimsum.

Heaven 'N Eggs - huge servings for huge appetites. a cardiac delight!

Lola Lita's - one of the great food places located in UP's Shopping Center, aside from Rodic's. try the grilled eggplant with its accompanying sauce as side dish.

Elvie's Canteen - a stone's throw from UP's Shopping Center, serves thirst quenching and cheap fruit shakes (mango, apple, corn, and banana).

Thai Kitchen - authentic thai home cooking in Balara, along Katipunan Avenue. "A-roi Khrap!"

Mang Jimmy's - hidden away inside the MWSS compound in Balara, the place to bring your ravenous barkada. aside from the unlimited rice servings, one can have one or two additional dishes depending on the amount of dishes ordered (e.g. order 2 dishes, get one free or order 5 dishes, get 2 free). Try the sizzling tapa mix and sizzling squid, inexpensive and tasty!
